Honoring grassroots environmental activists from around the world, the 33rd annual Goldman Environmental Prize ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
The theme for this year’s ceremony, re/Generation Now, is a global call to protect and restore our planet. Each year, Goldman Prize winners prove that individuals have the power to galvanize communities, confront powerful interests, and create global change. The future of our environment depends on the actions taken by our generation. Prize winners remind us that the time is now.
We are thrilled to welcome back actor and climate activist Jane Fonda as the host of the 2022 award ceremony. This is Jane’s second year hosting the Goldman Prize.
The ceremony will also feature world-renowned ethologist and lifelong environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall. Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a UN Messenger of Peace, Dr. Goodall is best known for groundbreaking studies of wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania—transformative research continued today as the longest running wild chimpanzee study in the world.
In addition, the 2022 Goldman Prize ceremony will include performances by five-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo and America’s Got Talent finalist the Detroit Youth Choir.
Prize winner videos are narrated by award-winning actor Sigourney Weaver, who has taken up the mantle of voice of the Goldman Prize.
Tune into the virtual award ceremony on Wednesday, May 25, at 5:00 pm PDT / 8:00 pm EDT. The ceremony will stream on the Goldman Environmental Prize YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter pages.
